Day 4

As I have been for the past couple of days, today I experienced new and invigorating things. My friends atnd I went to Chiba City Museum of Art. There we so many traditional paintings and sculptures, it was simply beautiful. However, the highlight of my day was going to Kofukuken. This time, I had sushi. I know, I know, I could get this in the states, but I wanted to try the real thing, and of course it was fabulous.

Later On

Today we went way out of Tokyo; we visited Nagoya. I had so much fun and I learned a lot. I visited the Atsuta Shrine, which is a temple that stands in a wooden park in the south of Nagoya. I learned that the shrine was remodled in pure Shinmei-zukuri Japanese style. After a couple of hours in the temple my friends took me to a Atsuta Shrine's restaurant so that we could enjoy some kishimen noodles, which is a specialty in Nagoya. The noodle was made right infront of our faces and I realized that they boil most of their food, because everything was drenched in deep pots full of hot boiled water. Some spices that were used to flavor the noodles were chopped onions, fish paste, season spinach, and deep fried bean curd. Most of the food I have eaten here is very spicy and some what on the salty side. Another big spice here in Japan is beni-shouga which is a red salt pickled ginger flavored herb. Ginger is found in majority of the food found here. Wow all this talk about fod is making me hungry and most of the restaurants are already closed. I'm going to bed so i can sleep peacefully in this noisy city. Oyasumimasai!!

Day 3

I had a good night sleep eventhough it was very noisy. It's a windy morning and right now it's 36 degrees which is like 20 degrees colder than Georgia. Nothing I can't  handle. About to meet up with my friends so I can see more of Japan.

I had an amazing night! After seeing Kinkakuji we went to dinner. It was delicious not like any I've had in the states. We all shared our food, so I got try different things. I really liked the Zohsui which is a Japanese rice soup. It had rice, various vegetables, egg, and some seafood. I was sooo excited because it was my first traditional dinner in Japan. I definitely have to get used to everything. Back home in Georgia it's not as difficult to eat. I had to learn the proper way to eat with chopsticks, get used to sitting nearly on the floor, how hold the bowl, etc., etc., ect.! Anyways, tomorrow should be an exciting day. Oyasuminasai! (that's goodnight in Japanese)

Day 1

Just got back from lunch. I tried the Domburi and it was surprisingly good. In a nutshell it was just rice with grilled eel on top of it. Right now its kind of cold but me and some friends are going to Kinkakuji so i can see my first temple garden. I'll be back on later to tell you how everything went. Sayonara!!

Arrival

So, after planning for months, I have finally arrived in Tokyo. It was about a 15 hour flight, but it's absolutely beautiful here! All that flying took a lot out of me, so I think I'm just going to relax in my hotel until tomorrow. I'll probably be here for a month or so, so I'll have plenty of time to do a lot.
